PROTOCOL OF OSTEOPATHIC CARE

This questionnaire allows us to:

  • Understand the child’s story
  • Analyze the answers allowing to list the signs in favor of an osteopathic diagnosis of KiSS or KiDD
  • Suspect the presence of an opportunity diagnosis requiring verification and possibly reorientation of the patient
  • Design the study and treatment of the child as precisely as possible

Nb: The questionnaire alone does not establish an osteopathic diagnosis of KiSS or KiDD, it indicates the predisposition or not of the presence of the syndrome.

Only palpatory osteopathic diagnosis (by an articular osteopathic test of the mobility of the joint of the cranio-cervical junction C0 / C1) definitively establish the presence or absence of a KiSS or a KiDD.

You will find this questionnaire in the “Make Appointment” section of this site.

After you make an appointment, we will send you a prescription from the doctor of our team for X-rays of the cervical spine.

These X-rays do not allow diagnosis of KiSS syndrome or KiDD, but have a differential diagnosis aim.

The exclusion of any other pathology that may contraindicate structural manipulation is fundamental before osteopathic care.

Thus the X-ray will allow the team doctor to verify that the child does not have a malformation that would contraindicate the osteopathic care.

There will be no structural technique performed without prior radiography.

The first session:

  •  We learn about the story of the child.
  • The doctor analyzes X-rays to detect any contraindications to the structural manipulation of the cervical spine.
  • We make the osteopathic diagnosis of a KiSS or KiDD syndrome, by an accurate articular osteopathic test of the cranio-cervical junction C0 / C1.
  • We release with 4 hands (2 osteopaths), by functional osteopathic techniques all the adaptation tensions of the body relating to the dysfunction of the cranio-cervical junction C0 / C1 (skull, dorsal, digestive system, pelvis …).
  • We release the C0 / C1 cranio-cervical junction by a structural osteopathic technique if necessary (Only if X-rays have been checked by the team doctor).
  • Give advice to parents.

Further informations

The care of KiSS or KiDD children is an osteopatic process, the sessions are performed by Osteopaths D.O justifying a complete course in osteopathy.

The treatment is done with 4 hands (that is to say 2 osteopaths).

The presence of a doctor-osteopath among the teams makes it possible to comply with Decree No. 2007-435 of 25 March 2007 on the acts and conditions of practice of osteopathy. [4]

The role of the doctor is to read the X-rays, and to attest to the non-contra-indication of the practice of osteopathy on the child.

As a result, the treatment of KiSS – KiDD is purely osteopathic.

Two follow-up sessions
For treatment two follow-up sessions with an interval of about 3 weeks are required.

The second session allows:

  • To check the effectiveness and maintenance over time of the initial treatment.
  • To continue the treatment with 4 hands (2 osteopaths), for postural adaptations of the child, by functional osteopathic techniques (skull, dorsal, digestive system, pelvis …).
  • If necessary, to repeat the structural manipulation of the cranio-cervical junction C0 / C1 in case of “reblocking”.

The third session allows:

  • To control the effectiveness and the maintenance in time of the treatment.
  • To finalize the treatment with 4 hands (2 osteopaths) for postural adaptations of the child, by functional osteopathic techniques (skull, dorsal, digestive system, pelvis …).
  • To give all the information and advice for the evolution of the child.
  • Orientation to complementary therapies if necessary (Psychomotricity, Speech therapy, Physiotherapy, Tunia, Kinesiology, …).
